Paisley Abbey Open Day

We are very lucky to have medieval Paisley Abbey just five minutes from the Watermill Hotel and many of our guests consider it one of the highlights of their visit to this part of Scotland.
Next month, the abbey is welcoming visitors to another Paisley Abbey Doors Open Day (and what magnificent doors they are) and on this occasion they will also be opening the Place of Paisley (formerly known as the Palace of Paisley, and in early times a grand mansion house).
Guides will be on hand to show you the highlights of the abbey, the 1000 year old Barochan Cross, the intricate choir stalls, the 5400 pipe organ and the stained glass windows.
Prospective brides and grooms will also be interested in the St Mirin chapel, one of three areas where they hold weddings in Paisley Abbey.
After drinking your fill of history, you will be glad to know the Cloister Cafe will be open for refreshments.
Paisley Abbey Open Day is on Saturday 13 September 2008.
