One of the most colourful - and yes, noisiest - events of the summer, the World Pipe Band Championships returns to Glasgow in August when bands from 16 different nations including Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Pakistan as well as the home nations descend on Glasgow Green to stir, inspire and delight locals and visitors alike.
You can’t quite hear the noise here in Paisley but you can certainly get to the event easily when you stay at the historic Watermill Hotel. A quick 10 minute train ride from the main station will speed you into the heart of Glasgow.
